YaYa Dreams A Future, directed and choreographed by Maija Garcia is a live installation inspired by a series of organic digital paintings by Delano Franklin. The work is a kaleidoscopic experience of the modern world, as viewed through the eyes of a child who dares to imagine a future. Through a series of visions and unanswered questions, YaYa does not fall as Alice did; Instead, he digs a way into alternate realms. Composers Monk and Hamilton play live along with a richly textured sound score featuring questions like “is this real… or imagined?” Costume design by Anjia Jalac, lighting by Sanjib Mukhopadyay (Littlefield, 2009) and Xavier Pierce (Summerstage, 2010).
